- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 large egg
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp pepper
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil (for browning)
- 28 oz canned crushed tomatoes
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- Optional: red pepper flakes for heat
Instructions
- Prep your ingredients: Chop onions, garlic, and parsley.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ricotta, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, garlic, parsley, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until combined.
- Shape the mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat; brown the meatballs on all sides (about 8-10 minutes). Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, sauté onions until translucent (3-4 minutes). Add crushed tomatoes and oregano; stir to combine.
- Return meatballs to the skillet. Cover and simmer on low for 20 minutes.
