Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20)
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 4 slices sourdough bread
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp butter (for grilling)
- Salt (to taste)
- Pepper (to taste)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
Instructions
- Prepare the ingredients: Thinly slice the onion and shape the ground beef into four equal patties, about 1/4 inch thick.
- Sauté onions: In a skillet over medium heat, melt 1 tbsp of butter. Add onions and cook until golden brown, about 10 minutes. Set aside.
- Cook patties: Increase heat slightly and add seasoned beef patties to the same skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on one side before flipping.
- Melt cheese: Top each patty with Swiss cheese and cover the pan briefly until cheese is melted, approximately 3-4 minutes.
- Grill sandwiches: Butter one side of each slice of sourdough bread. Assemble sandwiches by placing patties with melted cheese between two slices of bread (buttered sides out) in a clean skillet.
- Toast: Grill over medium heat for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
