  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 34 breasts)
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch (plus 2 tbsp water for slurry)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Cut chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. Coat chicken pieces in cornstarch until evenly covered.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  4. Add the coated chicken in a single layer and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  5. In the same pan, sauté minced garlic and grated ginger until fragrant (30 seconds).
  6. Stir in soy sauce, orange juice, and brown sugar; mix well.
  7. Combine cornstarch with water to create a slurry and add it to the sauce while stirring continuously until thickened (about 1 minute).
  8. Toss the crispy chicken back into the pan to coat with the sauce.
