  • 12 oz ziti pasta
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a large baking dish.
  2. Cook ziti in salted boiling water until al dente; drain and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, heat olive oil and sauté onions until translucent. Add garlic and ground beef; cook until browned.
  4. Stir in marinara sauce, salt, and pepper; simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. In a large bowl, mix cooked ziti with ricotta cheese and half the mozzarella. Layer in the baking dish.
  6. Top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Bake for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden.
