  • 1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 lb fresh octopus
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • ½ cup fresh basil leaves
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • Red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Clean the octopus under cold water. Remove any beak or innards if necessary.
  2. In a large pot, boil salted water and simmer the octopus for about 45 minutes until tender.
  3. In a pan over medium heat, drizzle olive oil and sauté minced garlic until fragrant. Add halved cherry tomatoes and cook until they burst.
  4. Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to about 12 inches in diameter.
  5. Spread the sautéed tomato-garlic mixture over the dough. Top with pieces of cooked octopus and slices of mozzarella cheese.
  6. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
  7. After baking, sprinkle fresh basil leaves, lemon zest, and red pepper flakes before slicing.
