- 1 lb fresh octopus
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
- 8 oz fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced
- ½ cup fresh basil leaves
- Zest of 1 lemon
- Red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Clean the octopus under cold water. Remove any beak or innards if necessary.
- In a large pot, boil salted water and simmer the octopus for about 45 minutes until tender.
- In a pan over medium heat, drizzle olive oil and sauté minced garlic until fragrant. Add halved cherry tomatoes and cook until they burst.
- Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to about 12 inches in diameter.
- Spread the sautéed tomato-garlic mixture over the dough. Top with pieces of cooked octopus and slices of mozzarella cheese.
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and bake for 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
- After baking, sprinkle fresh basil leaves, lemon zest, and red pepper flakes before slicing.
