Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2¼ teaspoons)
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Warm milk to about 110°F. Sprinkle yeast over it and let sit for 5 minutes until bubbly.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine sugar and melted butter with the yeast mixture. Gradually add flour until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Prepare filling by combining sugar, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, and melted butter.
  5. Roll out risen dough into a rectangle. Spread filling evenly over the dough and roll tightly into a log shape.
  6. Cut into rolls about 2 inches thick and place cut-side up in a greased baking dish. Cover and let rise while preheating oven to 350°F.
  7. Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
